Brazil Diaries - III

The weather in Brazil is opposite to what we have in India here..... Fortunately, my friend advised me to get jacket/Umbrella etc however, it didn't came to my mind once to check actual weather condition there.
On reaching, I realized that during May-June (which was peak summer in India), it was chilling cold in Sao Paulo .. and temperatures went down to 4 degree Celsius with mild and heavy showers of rain.
Anyways, I was covered for this weather, thanks to Nilesh :)
Continuing the journey, I got chance to visit two beautiful cities and world famous tourist places in Brazil.
One of those was Rio De Janeiro - A beautiful coastal city which is now more famous due to recently held Olympic games. You can visit mainly famous monuments and places of interest like Sugar loaf (mountain view where you can reach via cable car), Christo (Famous Christ monument) and of course the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema.
There is also a place called Escadaria Selarón (Selaron Steps', is a set of world-famous steps in Rio)

Next city is Foz de Iguazu (where you have the world famous Iguazu falls), a must visit if time permits. You can take bus (around 16 hours of one way journey) or book flight tickets in advance which will be faster journey of course,
Main attaractions are National park, falls and Bird Park. The bird park houses lots of varieties of exotic and latin american birds including Macau and Parrots.

There a city near Sao Paulo famous for European style houses and architect, known as Campos De Jordao.

Brazil Diaries - II

My Journey to Brazil has been really fulfilling in terms of knowledge & professional experience, however, in addition, I really enjoyed knowing a different culture and place.
I went to Sao Paulo city which, although seems to be, but not the capital of Brazil (it is Brasília). It is a large cosmopolitan city and is capital of the same name State (Sao Paulo) which is Brazil's most populous and wealthiest state.

This business city with huge skyscrapers and infrastructure has lot of historical and new age monuments, parks and museums and is home for lot of migrant population (like other Brazilian cities) including Italian, Portuguese, German, Arab, Jewish and Japanese.

Since the 19th century people began migrating from northeastern Brazil into São Paulo. This migration grew enormously and remained huge in the next decades.

I was not surprised to see lot of Chinese dominance in markets and city though.

My personal experience was limited to visiting places of most interest in Sao Paulo which included,
  • Ibirapuera Park -  has a large area for leisure, jogging and walking and has a large museum of modern art

  • Sao Paulo Cathedral
  • Mercado Municipal – Local market to buy food ingredients
  • Few famous streets of SP like Paulista Avenue, Rua 25 de Março, Vila Madalena
  • Nearby beach of Santos
  • Cultural center
  • Liberdade – the Japanese neighbourhood and street fair on Sunday
  • Sao Paulo Aquarium
Various shopping malls in SP (typical for most of the Indians whether they are in or out of India)

Guncha koi mere naam kar diya, saaqi ne fir se mera jaam bhar diya
Tum jaisa koi nahi is jahaan mein, subah ko teri zulf ne shaam kar diya
Mehfil mein baar baar idhar dekha kiye, aankhon ke jazeeron ko mere naam kar diya

Brazil Diaries - I

During my Visit to Brazil, I was impressed and amazed by the friendliness, warmth and hospitality of the people.
Though most of these people are  migrants and not really native Brazilians, they know how to live as one.

People do love to maintain oral hygiene and they are serious about it... I mean "really" serious....
Apart from it, one simple (yet powerful..) proverb I learnt in Brazil.. which I think can resolve many of the conflicts going around the world....goes like this...

Religion is like a toothpaste, you will use yours, and I will use mine.. we both really do not not care,  what each of us are using and neither it will impact how we treat each other.

By the way, Brazil has lowest government restrictions on religion among 25 most populous nations

Some Investments Never Give Profit But They Make us rich....

Once Buddha was traveling with a few of his followers. While they were passing a lake, Buddha told one of his disciples, "I am thirsty. Do get me some water from the lake." The disciple walked up to the lake. At that moment, a bullock cart started crossing through the lake. As a result, The water became very muddy and turbid.
The disciple thought, "How can I give this muddy water to Buddha to drink?" So he came back and told Buddha, "The water in there is very muddy. I don't think it is fit to drink." After about half an hour, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back to the lake. The disciple went back, and found that the water was still muddy. He returned and informed Buddha about the same. After sometime, again Buddha asked the same disciple to go back.

This time, the disciple found the mud had settled down, and the water was clean and clear. So he collected some water in a pot and brought it to Buddha. Buddha looked at the water, and then he looked up at the disciple and said, "See what you did to make the water clean. You let it be, and the mud settled down on its own, and you have clear water."

Your mind is like that too ! When it is disturbed, just let it be. Give it a little time. It will settle down on its own. You don't have to put in any effort to calm it down. It will happen. It is effortless." Having 'Peace of Mind' is not a strenuous job, it is an effortless process👌so keep your mind cool and have a great life ahead... Never leave Your close ones. If you find few faults in them just close Your eyes 'n Remember the best time You spent together... because Affection is More Important than Perfection..! Neither you can hug yourself.... nor you can cry on your own shoulder.... Life is all about living for one another, so live with those who love you the most... Relations cannot be Understood by the Language of Money...since, Some Investments Never Give Profit But They Make us rich...! "

Family n Friends are such Investments"

History of Gudi Padwa

Nice article with reference to historical evidences

Nilesh's Blog

Words from Cicero

Cicero of the Roman empire wrote this about the situation during his lifetime :

1. The poor, work & work.
2. The rich, exploit the poor.
3. The soldier, protects both.
4. The taxpayer, pays for all three.
5. The wanderer, rests for all four.
6. The drunk, drinks for all five.
7. The banker, robs all six.
8. The lawyer, misleads all seven.
9. The doctor, kills all eight.
10. The undertaker, buries all nine.
11. The Politician lives happily on account of all ten.

Written in 43 B.C. , but valid even today!

Who wrote the Constitution of India?

You don’t think that the 395 articles in 22 parts, 14 schedules and 94 amendments and a total of 117,369 words were written by just a handful of intelligent men and women, do you? It was worked upon by 205 elected and nominated Indians from across the country. As India completes 60 years of being governed in letter and spirit by the Constitution, here is a quick look at the forgotten luminaries who have got lost in the annals of history despite their contribution in its formation.

Adding a very good post received on this from someone

Few of the names are:

Benegal Narsing Rau: The most eminent jurist of his time, Rau not only played a key role in drafting the Constitution of India but also that of Burma. He was appointed an advisor to the Constituent Assembly and though was not part of the Committee itself, he was next to Amedkar in his role. Rau, who was knighted in 1938 for revising the entire Indian statutory code, was responsible for the democratic structure of the Constitution and prepared the final draft. He went on to represent India at the UN Security Council and was a judge at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. He was a combination of hard work, humility, search for perfection and erudition.

Saiyad Mohammed Saadulla: Representing Assam, Saadulla was a member of the Muslim League. He was an eminent member of the steering and drafting committees which worked under Rajendra Prasad and Ambedkar respectively. He became the premiere of Assam twice and was knighted by the British in 1928.

Dr Sachchidananda Sinha: An eminent Congress man, Sinha was chosen to preside over the first session of the Constituent Assembly and his name was suggested by Acharya Kruplani. In his inaugural address, he asked the members to deeply study prominent Constitutions of the world, especially the American one- a source from where eventually the Indian Constitution borrowed a lot, including the principle of separation of powers. He inspired those present by invoking Iqbal and concluding with a quote from the Bible: Where there is no vision, the people perish.

M A Ayyangar: He represented Madras and was a prominent member of the steering committee. He was the first Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha and was handpicked by Nehru to fill in the void left by the demise of the first Speaker GV Mavalankar. He was a member of the first elected council in India and was known for his phenomenal memory, Sanskrit knowledge and a keen interest in culture. He also became the Governor of Bihar in 1962.

N Gopalswami Ayyangar: An able administrator, Ayyangar was a member of the rules, business, drafting and several other committees. He was a lawyer-politician who represented Madras in the Constituent Assembly. Ayyangar played a key role in the exposition of Article 370 and was responsible for closing the differences between Sardar Patel and Sheikh Abdullah.

Open Letter from common man....

(Got from whasapp as forward)

Are we reading the "News"?

Got this forward from somewhere, which seems to be quite interesting worth sharing

While the JNU fracas and fiasco is being played out in the media for almost two weeks, this is what also happened

a) India struck a unique oil deal with UAE, which will land it 4 Million barrels of oil almost free after 5 years.
b) Indian Railways auctioned scrap for almost Rs.3000 crores through an online auction that is transparent and therefore scam free.
c) The #MakeinIndia event in Maharashtra saw commitments of Rs.15.2 lakh crores. Even if we assume a 10% conversion of those commitments, there are possible investments of Rs.1.52 lakh crores.
d) First batch of 800 cars have been shipped from Chennai port to Kandla. Seaway movement  of cargo within the country was not permitted under law. The present government changed that law. This would result in transportation costs dropping to almost 1/3rd from Rs. 1.50 per kg per km to Rs.0.50 per kg per km.

Good work is happening in the country. The government may not be working at a pace you desire, but it is working - away from the noise and hubris of the news channels !
Four Important News that media should have been specially covered this week,  but were not at all mentioned by Press, hand in hand with Congress, as they are busy in terrorizing people with news of intolerance, creating situations of suicide and such silly childish gimmicks misusing student community.

The FOUR IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS ARE:
1. World Bank has appreciated our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's favourite Project 'CLEAN INDIA' and announced support of 1.5 Billion Dollars for the project.
http://www.worldbank.org/en/news/press-release/2015/12/15/world-bank-approves-usd-1point5-billion-support-india-universal-sanitation-initiatives

2.  The 'Nuclear Energy Agreement' between India & Japan has been applauded by 'IEA- Inventions for Energy Alternatives' supporting Solar Energy Exploration and announced that with this collaboration India will achieve a GREAT MILESTONE in the use of solar energy that will be exemplary to the whole world.
http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/NP-India-Japan-reach-agreement-on-nuclear-cooperation-1412155.html

3. Within the next one year GOOGLE is going to provide Free Wifi Service in 100 Railway Stations and are going to train 20 Lakh Android Developers which means that 20 Lakh Youth will get the JOB OPPORTUNITY.
http://www.cnet.com/news/google-to-install-free-wi-fi-at-400-railway-stations-in-india/

4. Henceforth CBSC Books will be available online for FREE. Central Minister Smriti Irani has planned this special project.
http://indianexpress.com/article/india/education-news/cbse-books-to-be-made-available-online-for-free/

When media and News Papers have lost their CONSCIOUS FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY, Indian citizens have to take this responsibility to reach this message to maximum VOTERS REGARDING THE PROSPECTS NAMO GOVERNMENT IS BRINGING FOR THEM.
Definitely, you will also carry out this responsibility as I have done by sharing this message with you.
We have responsibility towards Future Of India.

Man In The Mirror

Only thing required to see the world, the way we want, nicely stated in Michael Jackson's one of the most critically acclaimed songs.....

"If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change"

I'm gonna make a change
For once in my life
It's gonna feel real good
Gonna make a difference
Gonna make it right
As I, turn up the collar on
My favorite winter coat
This wind is blowing my mind
I see the kids in the streets
With not enough to eat
Who am I to be blind?
Pretending not to see their needs
A summer disregard, a broken bottle top
And a one man soul
They follow each other on the wind ya' know
'Cause they got nowhere to go
That's why I want you to know
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love
It's time that I realize
That there are some with no home, not a nickel to loan
Could it be really me, pretending that they're not alone?
A willow deeply scarred, somebody's broken heart
And a washed-out dream
They follow the pattern of the wind ya' see
'Cause they got no place to be
That's why I'm starting with me
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
I'm asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make that
Change!
I'm starting with the man in the mirror
(Oh yeah!)
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
No message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make the change)
You gotta get it right, while you got the time
You can't close your, your mind!
(Then you close your, mind!)
That man, that man, that man, that man
With the man in the mirror
(Man in the mirror, oh yeah!)
That man, that man, that man
I'm asking him to change his ways
(Better change!)
No message could have been any clearer
If you want to make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make the change
Oh no, no no
I'm gonna make a change
It's gonna feel real good!
Chime on!
(Change)
Just lift yourself
You know
You've got to stop it
Yourself!
(Yeah! Make that change!)
I've got to make that change, today!
Hoo!
(Man in the mirror)
You got to
You got to not let yourself
Brother
Hoo!
(Yeah! Make that change!)
You know, I've got to get
That man, that man
(Man in the mirror)
You've got to move! Chime on!
Chime on!
You got to
Stand up! Stand up! Stand up!
(Yeah! Make that change)
Stand up and lift yourself, now!
(Man in the mirror)
You know it!
You know it!
You know it!
You know it
(Change)
Make that change
